Topic: "Euthanasia: What to do when You Don't Know What to Say"

We are excited for our next webinar! This webinar is RACE-approved, but MUST be watched live  to receive RACE credit for attendance. (It can be watched anytime after, but will not be reported to RACE.)

This presentation will share practical lessons to help best support pet owners, staff, and ourselves during euthanasia appointments or other emotionally difficult situations. The material is drawn from a 400 hour intensive CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) course, otherwise known as interfaith chaplaincy training. Focused on non-religious-based social work philosophy filtered through an experienced hospice veterinarian’s lens, you will learn tips and pearls to put into immediate practice professionally and personally. Topics to be covered include compassionate presence in the midst of suffering, foundational listening and responding skills, grief and loss, use of self, trauma-informed care, and specific language dos and don’ts.

Here are the quick details:

  • This meeting is open to member veterinarians and technicians.
  • This webinar WILL be recorded and available for members to view. (RACE credit will only apply to those who watch the live webinar.)
  • After registration with the WMVMA, you will receive an email to register with Zoom. You MUST register with Zoom to receive the link to the webinar.
